English Cream for Desserts

  • 1 1/2 cups cow's milk
  • 5 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 2 teaspoons orange liqueur , Grand Marnier

  • In a saucepan, mix one cup of milk with the sugar until it starts to boil.
  • Meanwhile, stir the yolk and mix it with the milk and cornstarch, then add it to the boiling milk.
  • Stir constantly until it thickens and add the vanilla and Grand Marnier if desired.
  • Remove from the heat and let it cool, stirring occasionally to prevent a skin from forming.
