Fair Buñuelos

This buñuelos recipe is delicious and very easy to make, you'll surprise everyone.

  • 3 cups all-purpose wheat flour
  • 1 baking powder
  • salt
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cups water
  • 4 unsalted butter
  • 1 oil
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 5 guavas, ripe
  • 250 piloncillos
  • 1/2 cups water, boiling

  • For the sauce: In a pot, place the piloncillo and add boiling water along with the cinnamon and guavas.
  • Cook until it has the texture of honey, remove the cinnamon.
  • Blend and strain through a sieve
  • For the buñuelos: Mix the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  • Make a well in the center and add the egg and water. Beat on low speed.
  • Add the butter and continue beating for another 10 to 12 minutes.
  • Grease another bowl with butter and let the dough rest for 30 minutes.
  • Divide the dough into 12 to 15 balls, place them on a baking sheet, and cover them with a towel.
  • Sprinkle a surface with flour, roll out each ball until you have a very thin circle.
  • Let them dry for another 10 minutes.
  • Fry them one by one in enough oil, let them cook for 20 seconds and then flip them. Transfer to a paper towel to absorb the grease.
  • Sprinkle them with sugar and cinnamon and serve with the sauce.
