Flamed Plantains with Tequila

This recipe for flamed plantains with tequila will leave everyone speechless.   • 2 plantains
  • 1/2 cups butter
  • 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cups Tequila
  • vanilla ice cream, to accompany

  • Peel and cut the plantains on a cutting board, first in half horizontally and then lengthwise into 3 pieces.
  • Place the butter in a cast-iron skillet and heat over medium heat. When it melts, add the plantains and fry for 5 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Add the sugar and tequila, allowing it to heat up, as this will help it to flame more easily.
  • Add fire and flame for 5 minutes to finish cooking the plantains. Using a spatula, carefully move to dissolve the fire.
  • Serve in the same skillet and accompany with vanilla ice cream.
