  • 4 egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1/4 cups sunflower oil
  • 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/4 cups sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 cups water

  • Mix the egg whites, almond extract, and oil. Set aside.
  • In another bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, sugar, and salt. Add the egg mixture and water and mix until lumps are dissolved. Set aside.
  • Form thin circles of approximately 10 cm in diameter on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. They should be spaced apart, as they may expand and stick together. Bake the cookies at 140 °C for 10 minutes.
  • Remove the baking tray from the oven and place a fortune slip in each cookie. Lift with a spatula, fold in half, and then pinch the corners together. Place over a bowl and let cool for 1 hour.
  • Serve the fortune cookies.
