Caramel Apples

Fresh apples covered in a super basic caramel, made with refined sugar and a touch of red food coloring. Easy to prepare, I’m sure your kids will love them.

  • 15 apples, red or green
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon red food coloring

  • Lightly grease a baking sheet. Wash and dry the apples and insert thick wooden sticks into each one.
  • Place the sugar, vinegar, and water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Let it come to a boil and add the artificial coloring. Mix and cook over low heat until the syrup reaches a temperature of 150 °C, or until drops of the syrup placed in a glass of cold water form a hard ball.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and place it in a mold with cold water until the syrup stops boiling. Then take an apple by the stick and dip it into the syrup until completely covered. Let the excess syrup drip off the apple and place it on the greased baking sheet. Let it rest until the syrup has hardened.
  • Repeat the procedure with the rest of the apples and the syrup.
