These guava and cheese turnovers are extremely delicious, especially when they are fresh out of the oven. Pair them with a warm coffee or tea; they are the perfect combination.
Flour a clean surface, roll out the dough with a floured rolling pin, and stretch it until it is about one centimeter thick.
With a cookie cutter or a glass, form circles; if you want larger turnovers, use a larger round utensil.
For the guava jam: wash the guavas, peel them, cut them in half, and remove the seeds.
Place them in a large pot over medium-low heat. Add sugar and a little water until you achieve the desired texture.
Blend this mixture, return it to the heat, and let it cook until it thickens and has reduced by 1/3 of its original volume.
Place the circles on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Add a tablespoon of jam to each one and fold in half, pressing the edges with a fork or rolling the dough. Beat the egg and brush each one.
Bake for 15 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
In the end, you can brush melted butter on them and sprinkle with sugar.
