Red Wine Pears with Raspberries

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cups white wine
  • 4 pears, peeled and halved
  • 1 cup raspberries
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla essence
  • mint leaves , for decoration

  • In a medium-sized pot, place the water, sugar, and white wine. Cook over medium heat until boiling, then lower the heat and add the pears. Cover and cook for 10 minutes.
  • Remove the pears from the syrup and place them on a platter.
  • In a blender, blend half of the raspberries with a couple of tablespoons of the syrup and the vanilla.
  • Refrigerate the pears and the sauce until both are cold.
  • Remove the sauce from the refrigerator 15 minutes before serving.
  • Place 1 pear on a serving plate, cover with a little sauce, and garnish with a couple of raspberries. Repeat with all the pears.
