  • 90 grams unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cups cow's milk
  • 1/2 cups sour cream
  • 200 grams brown sugar
  • 175 grams flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 1/2 teaspoons clove, ground
  • 1/2 teaspoons cardamom, ground
  • 30 grams almonds
  • 1 egg

  • Grease a 20 cm square pan and line the bottom with parchment paper. Preheat the oven to 350ºF or 180°C.
  • Heat the butter and milk until melted and let cool slightly. Add cream, using a whisk to mix, then add the egg and sugar and stir until well combined.
  • Sift flour, baking soda, and spices. Add almonds and then the liquid. Stir until everything is well incorporated.
  • Pour the mixture into the pan, bake for 25 to 35 minutes. Test with a toothpick to ensure it comes out dry. Place on a rack to cool.
