Icing for Decorating

Smooth sugar-based icing for decorating cakes and pastries.

  • 113 grams unsalted butter , or margarine
  • 100 grams vegetable shortening
  • 500 grams powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon liquid vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons cow's milk

  • Mix the shortening with the butter.
  • Add the vanilla.
  • Gradually incorporate the powdered sugar. When all the sugar is well mixed, the icing will have a dry appearance.
  • Add the milk and continue beating.
  • Store in the fridge, in a closed container, when not in use. It can be stored for up to 2 weeks.
