  • 5 cups cow's milk
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 5 egg yolks
  • 2 sticks cinnamon

  • Bring the milk to a boil with the cinnamon and vanilla for 20 minutes, add the sugar, and let it boil for another 20 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and take out the cinnamon stick and the vanilla pod if you used it instead of extract. Let it cool completely.
  • Beat the egg yolks and mix with the cooled milk. Fill eight small molds with the mixture and place in a preheated oven at 180°C in a tray with water that reaches halfway (water bath) for 20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Remove from the oven and the water bath and place under the broiler for a few minutes to brown. Refrigerate and serve very cold.
