Stovetop Three Kings Cake

  • 1 1/2 cups butter, at room temperature, for the three kings cake
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar, for the three kings cake
  • 10 eggs, for the three kings cake
  • 1 orange zest
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla essence, for the three kings cake
  • 2 cups flour, for the three kings cake
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder, for the three kings cake
  • apricot jam
  • 1 package vanilla cookies, ground
  • 1 cup maraschino cherries
  • 1/2 cups fruit paste, mix of colors, cut into strips

  • In a mixer on medium speed, mix butter and sugar until incorporated. While mixing, add eggs one by one, orange zest, vanilla essence, flour, and baking powder. Mix until a homogenous dough is formed. Set aside.
  • Pour dough into a previously greased and floured bundt cake pan. Cover with aluminum foil and cook in a water bath on the stove for 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool and unmold.
  • Brush stovetop three kings cake with apricot jam. Make strips with crumbled vanilla cookies and sugar. Arrange fruit paste strips and cherries on top of the stovetop three kings cake.
