Mini Torrijas

  • 4 slices ciabatta bread, large, special bread for torrijas
  • 1 glass low-fat milk
  • 1/4 glasses marsala wine, sweet wine like muscatel
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 eggs , whole
  • 1/2 glasses honey
  • 1/2 glasses water of roses
  • sunflower oil, for frying
  • powdered sugar
  • cinnamon powder

  • Cut the slices of bread into 4 squares.
  • Take the wine and heat it a little in a saucepan.
  • Once hot, add the sugar and mix until well dissolved.
  • Then mix with the milk in a dish and soak the slices of bread on both sides.
  • Then place them on another dish to release the excess liquid.
  • Heat enough sunflower oil in a pan so that you can immerse the torrijas.
  • Take the eggs and beat them well. Dip each torrija on both sides in the beaten egg.
  • When the oil is hot, add the torrijas.
  • Let them brown on one side before flipping them over.
  • When the torrijas are nicely colored on both sides, remove them and let them drain on absorbent paper on a tray.
  • When all the torrijas are prepared, sprinkle ground cinnamon and powdered sugar to your liking.
  • To give the sweet bath to the torrijas. Put the honey with the water to heat in a saucepan and when the honey is well fluid, mix with the water and soak the torrijas on both sides.
