I love making apple pie at Christmas; as we wait for dinner time, the delicious aroma of apple and cinnamon fills our home, and it's an exquisite dessert to enjoy together on that special day.
In a bowl, the flour, sugar, and salt are sifted, sifting two or three times.
Cut the butter into small cubes and add it to the flour, mixing with the fingertips until it forms small crumbs.
Carefully combine the dough and gradually add water as it comes together; if necessary, add a little more, it should not be a sticky dough as it may shrink while baking.
Divide the dough into two parts. Roll out the dough and line the pie mold. With the other part of the dough, cut strips 2 cm wide and according to the width of the mold.
Peel the apples, remove the core, and cut them into 4 parts, slicing them into not too thick slices.
A large skillet is placed over the heat, add the butter, then add the sugar and cinnamon, and mix with a wooden spoon, add the sliced apples and heat until they release some juice.
Add the raisins and chopped walnuts.
Let the previous mixture cool and then pour it into the lined mold.
With the strips of dough, cover the pie with some space between each one, and weave so it looks like the photograph I present.
Brush the pie.
Bake at 180° for approximately 30 to 40 minutes until cooked, then put it under the broiler to brown the surface.
