Walnut and Plum Tart

Delicious French tart for the whole family. It is not too sweet and is the perfect accompaniment for black coffee or tea.

  • 70 butter
  • 250 flour
  • 40 sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 250 milliliters water
  • 200 walnuts
  • 250 grams prunes
  • 150 grams whipping cream
  • 60 sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 vanilla bean
  • icing sugar

  • Preheat the oven to 170 degrees Celsius.
  • For the dough: Mix the flour with the sugar. Add the water, the egg yolk and finally the butter. Mix until you get a crumbly dough. Refrigerate for 20 minutes.
  • Chop the walnuts and plums to your preferred size.
  • Roll out the dough, place it in tartlet or tart molds and prick the bottom of the dough with a fork (this will prevent it from puffing up while baking).
  • Place the prunes at the bottom and the walnuts on top.
  • Mix the sugar with the egg and then add the cream and vanilla (scrape the pod with a spoon to remove the seeds).
  • Pour the cream into the molds.
  • Bake for approximately 30 minutes at 170-180 degrees Celsius.
  • Once cool, sprinkle powdered sugar on top using a sifter.
