  • 3 cups pineapple, in medium cubes
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch, dissolved in water
  • 4 cups wheat flour, for the dough
  • 1 cup vegetable shortening, for the dough
  • 1/4 cups sugar , for the dough
  • 1 egg, for the dough
  • 1 cup water, for the dough
  • 1 egg, beaten, for glazing

  • Place the pineapple in a pot and add the sugar, cook for 5 minutes or until the sugar has dissolved.
  • Dissolve the cornstarch in water and add it to the pineapple. Cook over low heat for 10 minutes.
  • For the dough: combine the wheat flour, sugar, and vegetable shortening. Knead for 3 minutes or until well integrated. Add the egg and water and continue kneading until you obtain a homogeneous mixture.
  • Roll out the dough with a rolling pin and when you achieve half a centimeter in thickness, cut the portions.
  • Fill the turnovers with pineapple jam and glaze with egg.
  • Place parchment paper on a baking sheet, arrange the turnovers, and bake at 180 °C for 20 minutes.
