Classic Pound Cake

  • 100 grams butter, with a paste-like consistency
  • 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs, whole, at room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups flour, sifted
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 3/4 cups cow's milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • icing sugar, for decoration

  • Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit).
  • Beat the butter until fluffy. Add the sugar and beat again until it is fluffy and pale yellow. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well between each one. Add the flour, alternating with the milk until finished. Add the teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  • Pour the mixture into a well-greased and floured rectangular mold. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
