Tree Vanilla Cake

A very fun tree-shaped vanilla cake. It's easier to make than it seems and is a creative way to make a dessert this Christmas; you'll love it.

  • 220 grams cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cups lard
  • 1 2/3 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 cup cow's milk
  • 1/2 cups walnuts, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons orange zest
  • 1/4 cups orange juice
  • green food coloring
  • 1 cup icing sugar
  • nonpareil sprinkles, gold and silver

  • Preheat the oven to 190°C.
  • Grease and flour 2 loaf pans.
  • In the bowl of an electric mixer, mix the cream cheese and shortening until a smooth mixture is formed.
  • Gradually add the sugar and beat until smooth and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs, mixing well after each addition.
  • In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt. Beat to combine. Gradually add this mixture to the cream cheese mixture, alternating with the milk.
  • Add the orange zest and mix.
  • Pour the mixture into the prepared molds, painting one of them green with food coloring.
  • Set aside the mold with the white mixture. Bake the mold with the green mixture for 45 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes.
  • Cut the green cake into the shape of a Christmas tree, being careful not to break it. Place the green cake into the mold with the white mixture and bake for 55 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool for 10 minutes.
  • To make the frosting, mix the orange juice with the powdered sugar until a homogeneous mixture is formed.
  • Pour over the cake and sprinkle with gold and silver sprinkles.
