Smurf Chocolate Cupcakes

Make these delicious chocolate cupcakes with chocolate chips decorated with sugar prints and vanilla frosting. They are a great idea for children's parties or for decorating with your kids.

  • 2/3 cups cocoa powder

  • 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 2/3 cups sugar
  • 2/3 cups unsalted butter , soft
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • vanilla frosting
  • fondant, store-bought
  • food coloring, for the frosting and fondant

  • Preheat the oven to 350 F or 180 degrees Celsius. Place cupcake liners in a 24-cupcake tray.
  • Mix the flour, cocoa, baking soda, salt, and baking powder in the mixing bowl.
  • Add the sugar, softened butter, water, vanilla extract, and eggs to the mixer and stir until you have a smooth and homogeneous mixture.
  • Place the chocolate chips in a bowl and mix with 2 tablespoons of flour. Fold into the batter and stir briefly.
  • Divide the cupcake batter among the 24 liners until they are 2/3 full.
  • Bake for 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Prepare the vanilla frosting. First, beat 1/3 cup of softened butter until fluffy, then gradually add 4 1/2 cups of powdered sugar. Once incorporated, add 1/4 cup of milk and 1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. Tint with a few drops of blue food coloring until the desired shade of blue is achieved.
  • Shape the Smurfs and place them on top of the cupcake.
