Spiced Pear Strudel

This strudel is filled with spiced pears with anise, cinnamon, cloves, and a touch of cardamom. Perfect for the holiday season, you can enjoy it warm with vanilla ice cream.

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 10 pears, cut into cubes
  • 3/4 cups raw sugar
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon powder
  • 2 cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoons cardamom
  • 1 star anise pod
  • 1/2 cups nut , chopped
  • 1/4 cups raisins
  • 500 grams puff pastry
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons Great Value® icing sugar, for decoration

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • In a deep skillet, melt the butter and add the pears and sugar. Cook for 5 minutes.
  • Add the lemon juice and spices and cook for 5 more minutes. Add the walnuts and raisins, mix, and let the liquid evaporate. Cool and set aside.
  • Roll out the puff pastry with a rolling pin and a little flour to 1 cm thick.
  • Add the pear filling, avoiding the edges, and roll up the dough. Seal and brush with egg.
  • Bake for 30 minutes or until the dough is cooked and golden. Remove from the oven, cool, and dust with powdered sugar. Buy HERE
