Sugar Cookies for Decorating

This sugar cookie recipe for decorating is delicious. It is recommended to use a powdered sugar icing with milk colored with food dyes for decorating.

  • 400 grams unsalted butter, soft
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest
  • 3/4 cups sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla essence
  • 4.66 cups flour
  • 6 tablespoons cow's milk, for the icing
  • 1/2 kilos icing sugar

  • In a stand mixer, combine the softened butter, lemon zest, sugar, and salt. Beat until fluffy. Add the egg and mix well.
  • Add the flour gradually. Beat well to ensure everything is incorporated.
  • Place the dough on parchment paper and wrap it. Put it in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees (180 degrees Celsius). Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Take the cookie dough and divide it in half. Roll out on a clean surface with a little flour. Knead until you have a dough that is 0.6 cm thick.
  • Dust the cookie cutter with flour and cut out the desired cookies. Arrange the cut cookies on baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake the cookies for 15-20 minutes until lightly browned.
  • Let cool on a wire rack before decorating.
  • They can be decorated with a sugar icing. To prepare it, take 6 tablespoons of milk and mix with 1/2 kilogram of powdered sugar. Divide into different parts and add drops of food coloring until you achieve the desired colors. Decorate the cookies with a piping bag or a brush.
