Preheat the oven to 180°C.
In a bowl, mix all the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, and salt.
In another bowl, cream the butter and add the sugar, mix until combined, then add the egg and the baking powder.
Knead until fully incorporated, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
For the royal icing, mix the powdered sugar with the egg white, and separate into 4 or 6 bowls. Color with your preferred colors.
Place in piping bags and let sit for 10 minutes.
On a floured surface, roll out the cookie dough and cut with various cutters.
Place the cookies on a baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes. Let cool and set aside.
Using the piping bags, decorate the cookies by drawing a line around the edge and filling in with more royal icing. Let dry and enjoy.
