Sweet Potatoes in Syrup

  • 2 sweet potatoes
  • 4 teaspoons butter
  • 1 cone piloncillo
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 2 star anise pods
  • 1/2 cups orange juice
  • condensed milk, for accompaniment

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • Wrap the sweet potatoes in aluminum foil with a tablespoon of butter and bake for 1 hour.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, heat the piloncillo, cinnamon, star anise, orange juice, and orange slice, cooking for 10 minutes until you have a syrup.
  • Serve the sweet potatoes with honey or drizzle with condensed milk.
