Torrejas with Prunes in Red Wine

Torrejas are a typical Spanish dessert, try this special version accompanied by a reduction of red wine and prunes, they are very easy to prepare and very delicious.

  • 1 baguette
  • 1 cup cow's milk 1 cup cow's milk

  • 1 star anise pod
  • 1 cup plum, pitted and halved

  • Cut the bread into slices.
  • Beat the egg with the milk and dip the bread slices.
  • Heat the oil in a skillet and fry the bread, place on paper towels to remove excess grease.
  • For the prunes, heat the red wine with the sugar and star anise in a saucepan, cook for 5 minutes.
  • Add the prunes and cook for 5 more minutes or until they are soft.
  • Serve the torrejas with the red wine reduction and the prunes, garnish with a bit of powdered sugar. Buy HERE
