Mozzarella Sticks with Tomato Sauce

A delicious Italian snack that is the perfect dish for a World Cup viewing party. Serve the mozzarella sticks with a tasty tomato sauce.

  • 1 kilo Mozzarella cheese, or Manchego cut into strips
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups vegetable oil
  • 2 cups breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • salt
  • marinara sauce, for dipping

  • In a deep bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, and salt.
  • In another deep bowl, beat the eggs.
  • Dip each strip of Manchego cheese first in the egg and then in the breadcrumbs, and place on a baking sheet.
  • Freeze the cheeses for at least 2 hours or up to 1 day.
  • Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  • Fry the cheese sticks until golden brown, about 1 minute on each side.
  • Place the sticks on a serving plate and accompany with cold or hot Marinara sauce.
