Mushroom, Pepper, and Ham Skewer

  • 10 button mushrooms, medium
  • 2 green bell peppers, large Italian
  • 1 yellow onion, large
  • 2 slices serrano ham
  • 1 stick ciabatta bread, thin, crunchy

  • The first step is to prepare the mushrooms. Clean them and remove the stems.
  • Set the mushroom caps aside on a plate and finely chop the stems.
  • Peel the onion and chop it finely. Wash the peppers, remove the stems and seeds, and chop them into small pieces.
  • In a pan with 4 tablespoons of olive oil, sauté the onion and pepper with a pinch of salt.
  • After about 5 minutes on medium heat, add the chopped mushroom stems. Keep on the heat until everything is cooked to perfection.
  • Chop the serrano ham and add it to the sauté. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Place the mushroom caps in a pan with a drizzle of oil, facing down.
  • Leave on medium heat for a couple of minutes and then turn them over.
  • Repeat this operation until the mushrooms are to your liking.
  • If necessary, add more olive oil.
  • When the mushrooms are to your liking, place them on a plate upside down to release any excess water and oil they may have. Meanwhile, cut 10 slices of bread.
  • Then, turn the mushrooms over and distribute the sauté among them.
  • Place each mushroom on a slice of bread and insert a skewer to hold everything together.
