Japanese Onigiri

Onigiri is a simple dish from Japanese cuisine, consisting of a ball of rice with different fillings and decorated with a bit of seaweed. They have a triangular shape that characterizes them. They are simple and delicious; give them a try.

  • 2 cups sushi rice
  • 2 1/2 cups water 2 1/2 cups water
  • 4 leaves nori
  • 2 cans tuna

  • Cook the rice with the two and a half cups of water until it is absorbed and the rice is soft and whole. Let it rest for 10 minutes without heat and well covered. After 10 minutes, uncover and let it cool slightly.
  • Mix the tuna with the mayonnaise.
  • Wet your hands with water, so the rice doesn't stick. Take a medium-sized ball of rice and make a small hole to put in some tuna.
  • Close the ball and shape it into a triangle with your hands, pressing a little without breaking the rice.
  • Cut the nori seaweed into small rectangles and stick them to the bottom of the onigiri with a little water.
