Homemade Bread Filled with Ham and Cheese

This delicious ham and cheese snack is perfect for serving at birthdays or taking to the office. The best part is to eat it freshly baked, pair it with sweet potato chips.

  • 75 grams unsalted butter
  • 1 envelope dry yeast
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 egg
  • 175 milliliters cow's milk , warm
  • 500 grams flour
  • sesame seeds
  • 10 slices deli ham, of your choice
  • 10 slices Gouda cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • Make a volcano with the flour, baking powder, and salt, incorporate the egg and egg yolks. Mix to start forming the dough, gradually add the warm milk. Continue kneading until the dough is smooth and elastic, and does not stick.
  • Let it rest until it doubles in size in a warm place.
  • Divide the dough into two and form two rectangles, brush them with butter, place the ham, and then the cheese, half in each, making sure not to reach the edges to be able to close it.
  • Once ready, seal the dough, let it rest for 25 minutes, brush with egg, and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
  • Bake for 10-15 minutes or until the dough looks golden.
