Veracruz-style Tuna Vol-au-Vents

Delicious vol-au-vents made of puff pastry with a rich tuna filling. They are ideal for a gathering, party, or anytime you want a snack. You have to try them!

  • 1 kilo puff pastry
  • 4 cans tuna
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1 clove garlic
  • salt, and pepper
  • 1 onion

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C. For the filling: Chop the tomatoes, onion, and garlic, and sauté with salt and pepper. After sautéing the vegetables, add the cans of tuna and fry them with the tomato, onion, and garlic. Let the filling cool, meanwhile roll out the puff pastry sheets, adding flour underneath so it doesn't stick and can be handled better. Form rectangles of 13cm x 9cm and fill each one with the tuna and vegetable mixture. Seal the edges by pressing with a fork.
  • Before putting them in the oven: Beat an egg yolk and brush the rectangles with it. Place in the oven for 25 minutes and check the cooking. They should look golden. Let cool inside the oven; they will be ready to serve.
