Swiss Meatballs

Swiss meatballs are made from ground beef and breadcrumbs and accompanied by a rich berry sauce. These meatballs can be served as a snack with toothpicks and look spectacular.

  • 400 ground beef
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 100 grams breadcrumbs
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup cranberry jam, or berries

  • In a deep bowl, mix the ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, dill, and season with salt and pepper.
  • Make balls from the mixture, you should get 20.
  • Heat the olive oil in a skillet and brown the meatballs. Remove from the skillet.
  • Add the butter and flour to the skillet and mix with a whisk. Add the beef broth and cook over medium heat until the sauce thickens.
  • Return the meatballs to the sauce and cook for 5 more minutes.
  • Serve the meatballs with the sauce or a cranberry or berry jelly.
