Venezuelan Arepas Filled with Ham and Cheese

  • 300 grams corn masa flour, precooked
  • 2 tablespoons butter 2 tablespoons butter

  • 1 1/2 cups cheese, grated
  • 100 grams deli ham

  • In a bowl or container, add the corn flour and salt.
  • Mix; add the water and butter.
  • Mix until you have a homogeneous dough; if it needs more water, add more. After obtaining a dough with a consistency similar to cookie dough but not too elastic, take a portion the size you want the arepa to be, make a ball, and flatten it until you achieve the desired shape.
  • Place the arepas on the griddle with a little oil until golden brown on both sides.
  • Cut the arepa horizontally and fill it with ham and cheese of your choice.
