Breaded Sushi

Nothing like pairing a delicious breaded sushi with the famous tampico sauce that always comes with Japanese food. It’s easier and more economical than you think! With this breaded sushi recipe, you will learn to make it from scratch and you will be delighted with the flavor of this delicious Japanese roll.

  • 1/2 cups rice, for sushi
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/8 cups rice vinegar
  • 1 cup surimi
  • 1/2 cups mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cups onion
  • 2 serrano chiles
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 6 pieces nori
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup egg
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • vegetable oil, for frying
  • soy sauce, for accompaniment

  • For the rice, in a pot add water, sugar, rice, and rice vinegar. Cover and cook over medium heat for 20 minutes. Cool.
  • Place the surimi in a food processor and grind until it reaches a very fine consistency.
  • In a bowl, mix the surimi, mayonnaise, onion, chilies, and sesame oil until you have a homogeneous mixture. Reserve in the refrigerator.
  • On a bamboo mat with non-stick plastic, place the nori seaweed and with your wet hands cover it with rice, flip it over, and fill it with the tampico.
  • Roll and press until you form the sushi roll. Refrigerate for 10 minutes.
  • For the breading, cover the roll with flour, followed by egg, and bread it with breadcrumbs. Fry in the oil for 5 minutes and place on absorbent paper to remove excess grease.
  • Cut the roll into slices 1 cm wide. Serve hot and accompany with soy sauce.
