Crispy Fish Tacos with Special Sauce

A delicious recipe for crispy fish tacos with a spectacular chili and mayonnaise sauce.

  • 600 grams white fish fillet, tilapia type
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 cups vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cups mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cups sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon Tabasco sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons garlic
  • 3 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 8 corn tortillas, or flour tortillas
  • 1/2 heads white cabbage, shredded
  • pepper, to taste
  • 1 pinch salt

  • Cut the fish into thick cubes.
  • In a deep bowl, mix the flour, a pinch of salt, and baking soda. Gradually add water and mix until a liquid batter forms.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a pan over high heat for 5 minutes.
  • Dip the fish in the batter and fry in the oil until golden brown on both sides, about 5 minutes.
  • Remove the fish from the oil and dry with paper towels to remove excess grease.
  • In a deep bowl, make the special sauce by mixing mayonnaise, sour cream, Tabasco, lemon juice, minced garlic, and cilantro.
  • Heat the tortillas on a griddle or in a microwave and assemble the tacos.
  • For each taco, place a handful of shredded cabbage, 3-4 pieces of fish, and 2 tablespoons of the special sauce.
