Fresh Steamed Lobsters

Cooking a live lobster is much easier than you think. With this recipe you can have a lobster ready in less than 15 minutes, full of flavor! Cooking time depends on the weight of the lobsters.

  • 4 lobsters, alive
  • salt, (the needed)
  • water
  • butter, melted cold
  • 2 limes, melted cold

  • Put your live lobsters in the refrigerator (inside their bags that I buy them in) as soon as possible to keep them fresh.
  • Heat a deep pot with 2 cm. of water. Add salt. The water must taste like "sea water", very salty. Cover the pot and wait for it to boil.
  • Once the water is boiling, add the lobsters one at a time. Cover the pot and once it is boiling again, cook the lobsters according to their weight.
  • For lobsters between 1 lbs and 1 1/2 lbs. cook 10-12 minutes. Lobsters 1 1/2 to 2 lbs. cook 13-14 minutes. Lobsters between 2 and 3 lbs. cook 16-18 minutes. Lobsters between 3 and 4 lbs. cook for 20-22 minutes.
