Sinaloa Aguachile

One of the most typical dishes from the state of Sinaloa is shrimp aguachile; prepare it and feel like you're in Sinaloa.

  • 3 dozens medium-sized shrimp, peeled, cleaned, and cut in half
  • 3/4 red onions, cut into rounds
  • 1 cup lime juice
  • 1 1/2 cucumbers, peeled and cut into strips
  • chiltepin peppers, powdered
  • salt, to taste
  • avocados, for decoration
  • tostadas, or crackers to accompany
  • 1 avocado, cut into slices

  • Pour the lime juice over the shrimp along with the red onion, cucumber, and salt.
  • Let it rest for 10 - 15 minutes (during this time, they will start to change color) add the chili.
  • Serve immediately.
