Fried Tuna Empanadas

  • 3 cups flour, for the dough
  • 1/4 cups vegetable oil, for the dough
  • 2 tablespoons sugar, for the dough
  • 2 tablespoons Chilito La Botanera®, for the dough
  • 1 cup water, for the dough
  • 4 cans canned tuna in water, for the filling
  • 1 cup onion, finely chopped, for the filling
  • 1 cup tomato, finely chopped, for the filling
  • 1/2 cups cilantro, finely chopped, for the filling
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice, for the filling
  • vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/4 cups The Classic Botanera®, for frying

Low
  • In a bowl, mix the flour, oil, sugar, Chilito La Botanera®, and water until you obtain a smooth and homogeneous dough. Place the dough in a bowl and let it rest for 20 minutes.
  • In another bowl, mix the tuna, onion, tomato, cilantro, lemon juice, La Botanera® Clásica, salt, and pepper. Mix and set aside.
  • Roll out the dough on a floured flat surface and cut circles using a round cutter. Fill each portion of dough with a bit of tuna and close it, forming a braid on the edge.
  • Heat the oil in a pot over medium heat. Fry the tuna empanadas for 5 minutes or until crispy.
  • Open the empanada and decorate with mayonnaise, avocado, and La Botanera® Clásica.
