Nopal Sandwich with Ham and Cheese

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder, for the oil
  • 1 teaspoon oregano, for the oil

  • 1/2 cups vegetable oil
  • 2 nopales, for the sandwich
  • 2 slices Manchego cheese, for the sandwich
  • 1/2 tomatoes, for the sandwich
  • 3 slices deli ham, for the sandwich

  • In a bowl, mix the garlic powder, oregano, salt, pepper, and oil until you achieve a homogeneous mixture. Set aside.
  • Place the nopales on a board, brush one side, and grill on a hot grill pan. Add oil to the other side of the nopal and flip to grill.
  • On one piece of nopal, place two slices of cheese, and on the other, place the tomato slices and ham. Cook for 5 minutes or until the cheese melts; bring both sides together to form a sandwich. Serve with fruit and natural juice. Enjoy!
