Apple Cinnamon Bars

This back-to-school season, treat and nourish your kids with these delicious apple cinnamon bars, which are also low in calories, as they are made with a sugar substitute. They are sure to love them!

  • 1/2 cups butter, at room temperature
  • 1/4 cups artificial sweetener, sucralose (baking)
  • 1 cup whole-wheat flour
  • 1 cup apple, grated
  • 1/2 cups oats
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons artificial sweetener, (sucralose) baking
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cups walnuts, chopped (optional)

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • In a bowl, combine the butter with the sugar substitute and whole wheat flour until a dough forms.
  • Cover a previously greased and floured square mold. Bake for 10 minutes.
  • In a bowl, mix the apple with the oats, eggs, sugar substitute, vanilla, starch, cinnamon, baking powder, and nuts.
  • Pour the previous mixture over the butter base and spread using a spoon, pressing lightly on the base. Bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Chill very well, unmold, and cut.
