Italian marinated mushrooms

This mushroom recipe is perfect for serving at a buffet as an appetizer, its flavor is mild and can be slightly spicy.

  • 2 cups white vinegar
  • 2 kilos button mushrooms, medium clean
  • 3 cloves garlic, whole
  • 1 lemon , , its juice
  • 2 tablespoons cayenne pepper, crushed (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • salt , and pepper
  • 6 leaves basil, slices

  • Bring 4 cups of water and vinegar to a boil in a large pot. Once boiling, add the mushrooms and bring back to a boil. Immediately turn off the heat and let the mushrooms sit for 15 minutes. Remove the mushrooms, strain, and rinse.
  • Place the mushrooms in a deep glass or ceramic dish and mix with the other ingredients, refrigerate for several hours or overnight, remove the garlic.
