Nutritive Nopal Smoothie

This smoothie is very nutritious and a good option to start the day. The combination of orange and nopal has a surprisingly rich flavor.

  • 2 cups orange juice
  • 3 nopales
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • In a large pot with boiling water and the tablespoon of baking soda, boil the nopales to remove the slime. This step can be done the night before, storing the nopales in the fridge.
  • In a blender, mix all the remaining ingredients with 3-4 ice cubes.
  • Serve in 2 glasses.
