Homemade Tacos al Pastor

  • 1 jar Herdez® Spicy Chilpotle Sauce
  • 1/4 onions, grilled
  • 2 cloves garlic, grilled
  • 1/4 cups achiote, in cubes
  • 1/2 cups orange juice, seedless
  • 1/4 cups white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon cumin, whole
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 2 kilos pork steak
  • 1 cup onion, sliced
  • 1 cup pineapple, cut into half moons
  • vegetable oil
  • corn tortillas, taqueria
  • pineapple, in cubes, for accompaniment
  • cilantro, finely chopped, for accompaniment
  • onion, finely chopped, for accompaniment
  • lime, cut in half
  • Herdez® Spicy Chilpotle Sauce, for accompaniment

  • Add Herdez® spicy chilpotle sauce, grilled onion, roasted garlic, achiote, orange juice, white vinegar, oregano, cumin, sufficient salt and pepper to a blender. Blend for 3 minutes or until the marinade for tacos al pastor has a smooth consistency. Reserve.
  • Place the steaks, onion, and pineapple in a baking dish, then pour the marinade and let the meat marinate for 2 hours. Reserve.
  • Heat a grill over medium heat, add the oil, and cook the steaks for 10 minutes. Reserve.
  • Place the meat on a cutting board and chop with the help of a knife. Reserve to assemble the tacos al pastor.
  • Heat the taqueria tortillas, add the meat and pineapple in cubes. Serve the homemade tacos al pastor and accompany with cilantro, onion, lime, and Herdez® spicy chilpotle sauce.
