Toast Sandwiches

The famous toast sandwiches are a snack that originated in Michoacán, where they are made with telera, tostada, beans, meat, pork cheese, sauce, and cabbage.

  • 500 grams ground meat
  • 1 cup lime juice

  • 3 tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1/2 onions, finely chopped
  • 2 serrano chiles, finely chopped
  • 6 telera rolls, in half
  • 1/2 cups mayonnaise
  • 1 cup refried beans
  • 3 cups pork cheese
  • 3 cups cabbage, finely chopped
  • 2 cups Romaine lettuce, finely chopped
  • manzano chile, finely chopped
  • 6 tostadas
  • red salsa, to accompany

  • Place the ground meat and lime juice in a bowl, then season with salt and pepper. Next, add the tomato, onion, and green chili, and let it rest until the meat changes color. Set aside.
  • Spread mayonnaise on one half of the telera and beans on the other, then fill with pork cheese, cabbage, lettuce, and manzano chili.
  • On top, place a tostada and fill it with the meat, then close it with the other half of the telera and you're done.
  • Serve the toast sandwich on a plate and accompany it with your preferred sauce.
