Nopales with panela cheese in red sauce

  • 2 cups nopal, in thin strips
  • 4 cups water
  • salt
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup onion, in thin strips
  • 3 cups panela cheese, in cubes
  • 2 boxes Ground Tomatoes with Arbol Del Fuerte® Chile, 210 g
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • corn tortillas, to accompany
  • Charro beans, to accompany

  • Cook the nopales with water, salt, and vinegar for 10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  • Heat the oil in a clay pot over medium heat. Add the onion and sauté for 2 minutes, then add the panela cheese and grill for 5 minutes. Finally, add the nopales, the Del Fuerte® Ground Tomatoes with Tree Chili, and the chicken broth. Cook for 10 minutes.
  • Serve the nopales with cheese in the same pot and accompany with beans and tortillas.
