Itacates

These itacates will become a favorite at home! Prepare them for the upcoming Christmas parties or any other celebration and enjoy with a Sidral Mundet® strawberry-kiwi flavor. Plus, these itacates are filled with a mixture of peppers and mushrooms, give them a try!

  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cups onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cups button mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup Poblano chile strips
  • 1 cup tomato, finely chopped
  • salt

  • 1 cup Manchego cheese, grated
  • 500 grams masa dough, For the dough
  • 1 tablespoon lard, For the dough

  • In a skillet over medium heat, heat the vegetable oil. Add the garlic and onion and cook for 3 minutes or until the onion is translucent.
  • Add the mushrooms and peppers and cook for 5 more minutes. When the peppers are soft, add the tomato and cook until it releases its juice and is soft. Season with salt and pepper.
  • When all the ingredients are well cooked, add the cheese. Mix and cook until melted.
  • In a bowl, mix the corn dough with the lard and salt. With the help of your hands, form a 1 cm thick triangle. Cook on a griddle over medium heat for 5 minutes on each side. Let cool and cut in half. Reserve.
  • Fill the itacate, add sauce and enjoy with Sidral Mundet® strawberry-kiwi flavor.
