Cook the pasta according to the package instructions. Two minutes before the cooking time is up, add the trimmed asparagus cut into pieces. Boil everything together for the last 2 minutes, then reserve a cup of the cooking liquid from the pan before draining the pasta and vegetables.
Transfer the pasta and asparagus to a bowl with ice and cold water. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes.
Add the lemon zest, lemon juice, cherry tomatoes, salt, and pepper.
Garnish with a basil leaf.
