Heat water in a pot over high heat. When it is boiling, add the pasta, salt, and olive oil. Stir continuously to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
When the pasta is cooked (it should be soft, has absorbed water, and the water level has decreased in the pot), strain the water using a colander and return the pasta to the pot.
Add the broccoli, salt, and pepper.
Add Parmesan cheese at the time of serving.
