Pasta with Vodka Sauce

This vodka, tomato, and cream sauce is delicious and can be served with any type of pasta.

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 shallots , finely chopped
  • 1 cup vodka
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 can tomato , whole in their juice
  • 1/2 cups cream
  • 20 leaves basil
  • 450 grams spaghetti
  • 1/4 cups Parmesan cheese

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the oil, butter, garlic, and shallots.
  • Sauté the shallots for 3-5 minutes.
  • Add the vodka to the skillet and let it reduce by half, it will take about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the chicken broth and tomatoes. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Cook the pasta in salted water as directed on the package.
  • Add the cream to the sauce. When the sauce comes to a boil, remove from heat.
  • Toss the pasta with the sauce and basil and serve with Parmesan cheese.
