Pasta with Vodka Sauce

This vodka, tomato, and cream sauce is delicious and can be served with any type of pasta.

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
2 cloves garlic
2 shallots , finely chopped
1 cup vodka
1 cup chicken broth
1 can tomato , whole in their juice
1/2 cups cream
20 leaves basil
450 grams spaghetti
1/4 cups Parmesan cheese

Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the oil, butter, garlic, and shallots.
Sauté the shallots for 3-5 minutes.
Add the vodka to the skillet and let it reduce by half, it will take about 2-3 minutes.
Add the chicken broth and tomatoes. Season with salt and pepper.
Cook the pasta in salted water as directed on the package.
Add the cream to the sauce. When the sauce comes to a boil, remove from heat.
Toss the pasta with the sauce and basil and serve with Parmesan cheese.
