This is a recipe from my grandmother, when there was not so much glamour in the kitchen, which is why no oven is required; it is also very nutritious and refreshing.
Cook the beet in a pressure cooker for 15 minutes, cool it down, and cut it into small cubes, set aside along with the cooking water.
Clean the orange and cut it into small cubes, and set aside.
Clean the jicama, cut it into small cubes, and set aside.
Clean the sugar cane and cut it into strips, set aside.
Clean the peanuts and set aside.
Wash and disinfect the lettuce, and cut it into strips, set aside.
In a bowl, combine the beet, orange, jicama, sugar cane, peanuts, and lettuce, incorporate the cooking water from the beet with the dissolved sugar, add the banana in slices at the end, and mix.
Chill in the refrigerator for half an hour and it's ready.
