Potato gratin is a classic French recipe, also known as Pommes Dauphinoise. The potatoes are cooked in a pot with milk, shallots, and nutmeg. Once tender, they are transferred to an oven-safe dish where the cheeses are gratinated.
1 kilo potato, peeled and sliced into 3 cm thick slices
1/2 cups Gruyère cheese, shredded
1/4 cups Parmesan cheese, shredded

Preheat the oven to 190ºC.
In an oven-safe dish, rub with the halved garlic and grease with butter. Mix the milk, shallots, salt, pepper, nutmeg, and potatoes in a pot and wait for it to start boiling. Cook for 8 minutes or until the potatoes are tender.
Pour the milk and potato mixture into the greased dish and sprinkle with cheese.
Bake in the oven for 3 minutes or until the potatoes are golden. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
