Hibiscus Nopal Snack

This snack is easy, different, and vegan. It will surprise your guests so much that they won't be able to stop eating.

  • 2 cups nopal, cut into thin strips
  • 1/2 cups hibiscus flower, rehydrated and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon chipotle chile, in puree
  • 60 grams onion, cut into thin strips
  • 1 tomato, cut into fine strips
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 grams salt

  • Heat a large griddle or medium skillet until ready.
  • Distribute the olive oil evenly over the pan to prevent the ingredients from sticking.
  • Sauté the julienned nopal with salt until completely dry and without slime. Stir constantly to prevent burning.
  • Add the julienned onion until it changes color.
  • Add the tomato until it dries out a bit.
  • Add the hibiscus and season with chipotle pepper and salt.
  • Let it cook on very low heat, stirring constantly to prevent burning for a few minutes.
  • Serve accompanied by tostadas or tortilla chips.
