Hipopotato

The Hipopotato is a potato that is a hippo, hiPAPOtato, it has green onion teeth and a butter tongue. Make this delicious and fun recipe for your kids.

  • 1 potato
  • 1 fresh chives
  • 1 portion butter
  • 2 grains pepper, (for the eyes)

  • Scrub the potato and poke it with a fork all over, microwave for about 6 minutes with 2 tablespoons of water or until tender inside.
  • Once the potato is cool to the touch, cut a small opening at one end to make the hippo's mouth. The size of the opening depends on the size of your potato.
  • Cut one end of the green onion into 1/2 inch pieces and push some of them into the potato at the front of the mouth; these will be the teeth.
  • Add the portion of butter inside the opening (the mouth) for the tongue.
  • Cut two small triangular pieces from the skin of the potato at the top of the head and fold them forward to make the hippo's ears.
  • Add 2 peppercorns for the eyes and enjoy your Hipopotato!
